ARTIST ROSTER - DRAWING
Anita White Minneapolis
I have worked with adults and students for 25 years. I am able to enthusiastically nurture and help people create, particularly those who feel inhibited or uncertain about art. I have also worked with adults who have illness and have been able to help them manifest healing positive imagery that gives them a sense of purpose, reconcilliation with illness and a postive outlook in the midst of challenges. I am an excellent cheerleader in helping others unlock their creative potential in the best way possible. I really believe that each person has a unique creative spark within them and it is my job to help release it.
I am a professional artist who draws and paints everyday. I also do a lot of painting on silk and writing. I like to incorporate my visual storytelling skills into a narrative that uses art and words. I have the skills to help other people tell their personal stories through words and visual images. Small intimate audiences have worked well for me in my storytelling. I feel I would be an asset to any group setting for helping people express themselves creatively in a variety of ways.
My teaching skills include: collage, drawing, painting, chinese brush painting. Some of the most exquisite work I have done in groups with young and old people are large silk paintings. Within a given theme I like to listen and intuitvely draw out of the group their common feelings for a project. I have had years of experience working with groups and helping them harmonize creatively. I am currently about to culminate an 8-month project at the St. Paul JCC that is intergenerational. Using holiday themes I have worked with school-age students and elders to create meaningul images for the Jewish Holiday cycle. Each group has made their own large image (3feet by 6 feet), and there has also been time for each person to create their own individual piece. The four holidays we worked on will be on display later in the year at the St. Paul JCC. The contact for this project is Beth Gendler 651-698-0751. I have numerous other reference if you need them.
